The 42 year old child

I can almost bet that women, when reading the title to this blog, automatically thought HUSBANDS.

Sorry to disappoint you but this one is about me. It dawned on my last night, that even though I am 42 3/4 years old, I still feel like a child. Not the kind that wants to play all the time, but the kind that is still waiting for permission to do things. Waiting for approval and praise. Guess what, it's a long wait.

I look in the mirror and I see a grown up. I look into myself and I see a child.

I am a wife, a mother to seven, a grandmother to one. I own a house, three cars and numerous other things that should make me feel like an adult. I can legally vote, drink and smoke but for some reason I still feel like a child.

I don't think at this point in my life this is going to change on it's own, so how do I go about changing how I feel, OR should I?

  1. Don't worry about it. I've got more than 10 years on you and I still feel the same way. LOL I just let the thought go and keep going. Grateful that I can still see the child laughing back at me in my grownup face.

    Peace,

  2. I think it depends on WHY you feel this way. If you're happy with things the way they are, then enjoy feeling younger than you are. If it's something that makes you feel badly, then you need to find a way to make things better. Once you know WHY you feel this way, you'll probably understand yourself better!! HUGS!

  3. How funny, I was just thinking something along those lines the other day. I was sitting at the dining room table explaining to my kids what life was like when I was a kid and I suddenly realized that I don't feel any different than I did back then. Life through my eyes is seen the exact same way that it was then. I think I will just avoid mirrors and be a kid forever ;)
